About Reading Expert Certification - Series A

This course has been approved as an Oregon Dyslexia—Related Training course.

This course combined with Reading Expert Certification—Series B has been approved as an Arizona Dyslexia Training Designee course.

Ashlock Consulting believes the best way to build and sustain effective reading instruction at a school district is to build capacity within the system. For that reason, we have offered a successful “trainer of trainers” Expert Certification Program since 2006. Our Certification trainings are designed to prepare participants to provide professional development and implementation support to staff connected to standards-based instruction and current program adoptions. Participants typically include:  Reading Coaches, principals, teachers, and district administrators.

Description of Reading Expert Certification Program for Grades K–5

  • Through the certification training participants will gain knowledge of key reading areas connected to standards in preparation to present professional development workshops to staff while supporting implementation at school sites.
  • The length of the session varies depending on how long the Expert participants practice routines or take to complete activities.
  • Participants who register for the Expert Certification Program may choose to register for one or more series of workshops.
  • Participants in this program will be licensed to use Ashlock Consulting training materials as an Expert under the terms of our Master License Agreement and must agree to renew their license each year to continue use of the materials.
  • Participants are limited to school district employees (not independent contractors) and will only be licensed to use the materials within the school district for which they are registered.
  • If a participant changes school districts, and qualifies to transfer their license, he or she may do so by contacting Ashlock Consulting and paying the current transfer fee.

Structure of Workshops

  • Workshops may be offered as part of a series or offered individually.
  • Each workshop is designed for presentation to a group of educators in a two–three hour session and can be combined to create full days of professional development.
  • Participants will receive Expert Certification Materials through a digital download and will need to print their own materials based on the Master License Agreement.
  • Training sessions may include suggested homework.
  • For each workshop the Expert Certification Materials include:
  1. Expert Notes
  2. Participant Packet Pages
  3. PowerPoint Presentation Slides
